I have learned a valuable lesson today, when estate agents take your phone number and say they will call you back it does not always mean you will get called back.
I have organised five flat viewings for this week, so we should be kept busy and maybe even see something we like. The five flats we are going to see are
Grove Lodge
4 Queens Road
Berkley Court
Crossdeep
Melton Court
We are hoping that after viewing all these flats we should have a clearer picture of whats on the market and what we want.
Weekend in Eckington
StandardJust got back from a lovely weekend with Alan and Anna in Eckington (Worcestershire). Not a particularly busy time, more relaxing. We saw part of the local ‘raft’ race on the river Avon, and went to the ‘Hog Roast’ in the evening (although all the Hog had gone).
Today we went for a walk at Croome Park – a National Trust property (well – just the grounds actually, the house is now luxury appartments). The gardens were apparently Capability Brown’s first commision when he went ‘freelance’, and the NT is now restoring them to his original design. Unfortunately they were dredging the lake, which meant we didn’t see it at it’s best, but it will be really interesting to go back at some point and see how it’s developed.
We’ve been looking at more properties online this evening, and seen a couple of larger properties outside our ‘maximum’ distance – shows how you get more for your money outside Twickenham. We might take a stroll down to one near St Margarets to see how long it takes.
Milton Lodge
StandardWe viewed our first flat today, and only took us 15 minutes – I’ve spent more time deciding on a pair of boots!
From the outside, all looked well, although it was on quite a busy road.
What we liked:
Lovely wood flooring
Nice big hallway
Location
High standard of decor
First floor flat
On the downside:
Kitchen and Bathroom smaller than we would like
Main bedroom lacked natural light
Lack of electrical sockets in main bedroom
No storage space
No allocated parking space
Viewing the flat made me realise that a good sized kitchen should be a priority on the big great Twickenham flat hunt
Home Sweet New Home?
StandardWe started on our hunt for a new home today – we saw our first flat. However, first we thought we’d better say what we were looking for:
Near to Twickenham Station (maximum of 10-15 minutes walk) – which would put it somewhere on this map
Total floorspace more than our current flat (55 sq m)
2 Bedrooms
After seeing our first flat today (see the next post), we added a new condition to our wish list:
A largish kitchen (our current one in 3.1m x 2.2m)
Home Sweet Home
StandardWell, home after a lovely holiday in Seattle. Still tired from the flight, and slowly adjusting to the fact that we have to go to work tomorrow. Anyway, it seemed like a good time to try starting a weblog. This is on a 30 day trial, so I guess we’ll see if it’s worth it.
